Mykenos Greece

You know you have been travelling for quite a while when you have “a typical day” For some reason even if we have been on a number of two weeks trips before…this one almost seems like we live here.

My typical day here is to get up around 7:30am and wake up slowly for about 45 mins to an hour (sometimes earlier if an early port). Then it is to get dressed and go and eat  baked beans, bagel and jam, oranges and a little chocolate croissant and a glass of applejuice on the terrace together. Then come back to the room and pack knapsacks for the day. Go and explore ruins, towns, archeological sites, visit a beach, visit churches (the ones that don’t kick beauty out because of her tank tops and shorts), climb a few bell towers, do some shopping.

During those days always stop for a nice ethnic lunch, an afternoon coffee and dessert and usually a gelato somewhere along the way for Beauty and sometimes me. Usually buy some kind of sweater, shirt or souvenir somewhere.

Then back to boat around 5pm and lie on bed exhausted for 15 mins, change in bathing suit and freeze in the pool and warm up in Jacuzzi. Then read and then get ready for dinner (Beauty and I get ready in 5 mins and hubby needs 10). Then dinner, the show and usually a chocolate crepe from the creperie somewhere along the way and then back to room read for an hour and all of us sleep by midnight. Oh ya tickle and kissing fight with Beauty and then brace on and then listen anxiously to her toss and turn all night as if she is possessed (tonight is a sleeping pill for me for sure!)

Our days here are probably as busy as our days at home in a lot of ways. Cruising to 12 different European cities and 5 countries is not relaxing at all! But it is totally fun and wonderful. I drink way more caffeine here (bad), eat  way way more food here (worse) and walk a hell of a lot more here (good). This trip I have nothing on my mind and no need to plan anything except our next trips (travel has always been a very big part of our lives and is big part of why we both have the type of stressful busy type of careers we do in order to be able to travel)J

Mykonos todayJ Paradise beach in morning but was mostly very cloudy which was sad-when the sun came put we stayed another hour and Hubby and Beauty danced on the beach. I slept on the beach. Ran out of books for the first time ever. Thank God I tonight found a library here. Then we took the car to three other little beaches and one was magnificent and a gorgeous cove. We stayed another hour there lying on the rocks on our towels relaxing-really nice treat as our days here are not often spent relaxing at all. Then lunch at another beach and then back to the town center for a little bit of window shopping and a gyros sandwich at the end of the day.

Highlights were the winding scary roads to the beaches, Hubby’s talents once again to get us anywhere and everywhere, Beauty on the beach free and brace free (we have been giving her some longer break days and it is beautiful to see her free like that again), the baked feta, the tzicki, Beauty’s new Mykonos shorts that replaced her old ones that were too short, me getting compliments all over Greece on my jewelry, swim in the pool at end of day, the windy Jacuzzi, me being always resentful for my Hubby needing to be so punctual and ahead of time and losing time in each city because of this. Beauty looking me in the eyes and saying “I love you”, Hubby looking me in the eyes and telling me that everything was going to be ok with him, us knowing we get to see our boys in a couple of days as we miss them!!!!

Tomorrow last touring day in Olympia Greece. Supposed to rain…but lots of ruins to visit and churches to see. Note to self: make Beauty wear pants.

Then a day at Sea and then back to Venice and home to our real life! It has been a beautiful trip but it is time to come home now to our work, our home, our families and our friends and our responsibilities. I am quite certain that the “grade 6 trips” will continue every second year into “Cegep trip”. Travelling with one of our kids at a time like this and exploring the world is irreplaceable in terms of how well we get to know them, understand them and bond with them. And we decided that if we are seeing these spectacular things in the world..we want one of our kids with us each time.

Beach time is for the family or for us as a couple alone. Cutural trips like this….for us and one kid at a time. All the way.

Hope boys are being good to my Mama! Hope she is not too tired and she still loves usJ))
